Dr Malinis obtained her bachelor's degree in Chemistry at the University of Philippines Diliman and her medical degree at the University of Philippines College of Medicine. She came to the United States for post-graduate training. She completed her internal medicine residency at Seton Hall Graduate Medical Education. Afterwards, she did fellowship training in Geriatric Medicine at the University of Michigan, Infectious Diseases at the University of Louisville, and Transplant Infectious Diseases at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

Dr Malinis has been a primary leader in Yale New Haven Hospital’s covid response. She made important contributions to the development of guidelines in the management of covid in patients with Gaucher disease.
